For nearly a week, Kassandra Williamson was extremely anxious about where her daughter Klaira was and who she might be with. Everything changed when she received a call from Kingston Police on Aug. 14.

The call brought relief

“They called and said we have good news. It was Kingston Police, and I didn’t think she was found. I thought they were just going to give me an update on what was going on. She said they have her,” recalled Williamson.

The police informed her that Klaira had been discovered by Peel Regional Police with a male who is now facing charges.

The authorities tracked down Klaira by locating the Uber driver who had taken her to Toronto. They confirmed with him that he had dropped off Klaira at a specific address.

“We did figure that it was not a great situation, but it could have been a lot worse. We’re very fortunate that she was found and that she’s home now and she’s safe,” said Williamson, who noted her daughter appears physically fine but is still shaken up by everything that’s happened.

The victim must be under age eighteen.
Authorities must believe there’s been an abduction involved.
There needs to be a belief that serious harm or death could occur quickly if action isn’t taken promptly.
Sufficient details about both child and suspected abductor need to exist so public help can locate them effectively.
While these guidelines exist for issuing Amber Alerts are strict ones, Williamson wishes there would be simpler ways for alerting everyone quickly when kids go missing. Peel Regional Police haven’t responded yet regarding requests for further comments. Details concerning charges against the male connected with Klaira’s case remain undisclosed as well.
