The NBA has found no proof that Clippers owner Steve Ballmer used outside endorsements to illegally compensate Leonard, according to Don Van Natta Jr., Baxter Holmes and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. com. However, NBA spokesman Mike Bass disputed ESPN’s report, pointing out “numerous and significant inaccuracies.”
Reportedly, the league’s investigation did not determine that Ballmer or the franchise channeled funds through team sponsors to bypass the salary cap. This should help remove a major obstacle in completing Leonard’s anticipated trade to the Raptors. The expectation is that the deal will be finalized before training camp this fall, but fantasy managers should tread carefully until the NBA’s investigation wraps up.
