A woman has been charged with assault after reportedly stabbing another woman during a road rage confrontation in Oshawa on Canada Day.
Durham Regional Police responded to a call near Lakeview Park and Simcoe Street at about 7:20 p. m. on July 1.
According to investigators, a 53-year-old woman was involved in a road rage dispute with a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman. The older woman allegedly pulled out a knife, prompting the younger pair to use bear spray in response.
The 53-year-old then stabbed the other woman multiple times before fleeing the scene.
The victim was transported to a trauma center in Toronto, where she is listed in serious but stable condition.
Authorities located the suspect shortly afterward, and she was taken into custody without any issues.
Arlene Sophia Moore now faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, and two counts of assault with a weapon.
She is currently being held for her bail hearing.
