Police in Barrie report that a woman and a man found dead in a north-end residence on Saturday were victims of intimate partner violence.
Authorities say they received a call for a wellness check at a home near St. Vincent Street and Osprey Ridge Road on June 20.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of a 45-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man.
The investigation determined the woman’s death to be a homicide, while the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A firearm was recovered from the scene, and police do not expect to identify any additional suspects or file charges.
Out of respect for the family, authorities have chosen not to publicly disclose the identities of those involved.
