Five Flyers prospects took part in the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase tournament held in Windsor, Ontario. The evaluation series that didn’t award medals wrapped up on Saturday.
Carter Amico (D, USA): Just like at the Flyers’ Development Camp, the 2025 second-round pick stood out with his mix of size, great mobility, and competitive spirit. While he’s not typically recognized for his offensive skills, Amico had a solid tournament when he had the puck. He seemed unprepared for NCAA hockey early last season, but that’s no longer the case.
Jack Nesbitt (C, Canada): Nesbitt was one of the few highlights for Canada during Saturday’s 7-2 defeat against Team USA. Although he didn’t register any points, he won most of his puck battles and made positive contributions to his team. As a result, he earned Player of the Game honors for Canada. He played in two out of Canada’s three games.
Jack Murtagh (W, USA): The 2025 second-round pick delivered two strong performances at the tournament, including a three-point game (1g, 2a) in his first match.
Brek Liske (D, Canada): The 2026 second-round pick suited up for two of Canada’s three games. In Canada’s opening match last Wednesday-a 5-3 loss to Sweden-Liske partnered with Calgary Flames first-round selection Carson Carels. He didn’t dress for the final game against USA. Liske faces an uphill battle to make it into the 2026-27 World Junior Championship but can continue to prove himself in upcoming months either this year or next year. He’s got a fair chance for 2027-28.
Max Laatikainen (Finland): The 2026 seventh-round pick played in all five matches that Finland participated in. He recorded one assist and gained considerable responsibilities over the week. Laatikainen frequently skated on Finland’s top defensive pairing and logged ice time during power plays.
