A 16-year-old girl has lost her life, and two others have been airlifted to a hospital in the Ottawa area following an early morning crash close to Cornwall, Ont., according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Emergency crews arrived at the Headline Road area near County Road 19 in South Stormont around 3:40 a. m. on Sunday after receiving reports about a single-vehicle collision, OPP stated.
Investigators revealed that a teenage girl from Cornwall was declared dead at the scene, while two other passengers in the vehicle sustained serious injuries.
They were initially taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to an Ottawa-area medical facility, OPP mentioned.
“To respect the privacy of the families involved, no further information will be released,” OPP wrote in a news release Sunday morning.
Headline Road was shut down in both directions between County Road 19 and County Road 42 following the accident.
