MAY 14, 1993 – JULY 12, 2026

We are heartbroken to share the unexpected passing of Moses Meshach Patawanick, age 33, a dear member of North Caribou Lake First Nation, who left us suddenly in Thunder Bay on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Moses was born on May 14, 1993. He was a kind and gentle soul who was quiet yet friendly. He generously supported his parents financially and helped provide for the household while caring for his mom. His actions and demeanor showed how much he loved life, his work, and everyone he met along the way.

Moses is survived by his caring parents Ronald and Mary Patawanick; his daughter Lucy Barkman (Sachigo); his girlfriend Donna Sainnawap; his sisters Gabrielle (John) Patawanick and Shawna Patawanick; brother Micheal (Azsia Ballantyne); as well as many nieces and nephews whom he adored. He also leaves behind his paternal aunts Ophelia Patawanick, Maria Spade, Lenora Rita (George) Apetawakeesic; maternal aunts Ida Williams, Jessie Williams, Tinena Kanate; maternal uncles Saul (Ann) Williams, Charles (Emma) Williams and George (Jerephine) Williams; along with numerous cousins and extended family members both in the community and beyond.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents Moses (his namesake) and Emma; Margaret Patawanick; John and Genessa Kakekayash; grandparents Joseph and Mary Patawanick; maternal great-grandparents Jonas and Mamie Quequish; grandparents Mike and Annie Williams; aunts Sophia Trist, Ella Beardy, Elizabeth Jeremiah; cousins Keegan Williams, Micheal Patawanick, Lanny Jeremiah; as well as many other extended relatives.

A Wake Service will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the WESTFORT CHAPEL located at 420 West Gore Street at James. The service will be led by Pastor Rodney Martin.

Moses will then be taken back home to North Caribou Lake First Nation for Funeral Services on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:00 am in the New Life Pentecostal Church. Pastor Ivan Wapenisk will officiate. After the services he will be laid to rest in Weagamow Lake Community Cemetery.
