Roger Cleo Storkson, age 70, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at St. Joseph’s Hospital on July 19, 2026.
Born on May 31, 1956, in Rainy River, Ontario, Roger grew up and went to school in Rainy River, where he graduated from Rainy River High School. He later lived in Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg, Manitoba before making Thunder Bay his home.
Roger had a special talent for bringing beauty into everyday life. With a keen eye for detail and aesthetics, he turned simple spaces into warm and inviting areas where everyone felt welcome. One of his hobbies was sewing; he skillfully incorporated it into his creative projects. From designing custom window treatments and reupholstering furniture to creating unique items and preparing delicious meals like fresh bread or his famous sticky cinnamon buns straight from the oven-everything Roger made showed the pride and love he put into it.
What brought Roger the most happiness was bringing his family together. He believed that love could be expressed through small details. Whether beautifully setting the table for a family dinner or thoughtfully arranging a guest room so visitors felt comfortable and cared for-he had a wonderful way of making people feel important. Everything was always just right because each detail mattered to him; not for perfection’s sake but because he wanted those around him to feel cherished.
Roger was an amazing cook, a generous host, and genuinely kind-hearted. His laughter could light up any room; his generosity knew no bounds. He had a knack for uniting people with joy. His home was filled with warmth, great food, and meaningful conversations. Those who knew him will remember not only his many skills but also the love and comfort he shared so freely.
For about 20 years until retiring in 2025, Roger was an important part of Dusk to Dawn Interiors. His creativity and dedication were invaluable to the business as noted by his employer; Roger was seen as both the left hand and right hand of Dusk to Dawn Interiors-a true reflection of how much he contributed.
He is fondly remembered by his siblings: Bob Storkson, Marie Kreger, Rita Wilson (Anthony), Edward Storkson (Theresa), and Michelle Raine (John), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
Roger was predeceased by his parents Albert and Theresa Storkson; his brother Leo Storkson; sister Alice Ivall; sister-in-law Violet Storkson; and brother-in-law Tom Kreger.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre as well as the compassionate Para Med nurses who took care of Roger at home for several months with kindness and support. They are also grateful to the dedicated staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital whose compassion made Roger’s final days more comfortable for him and his family.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date.
In memory of Roger, donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Fund through the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.
Roger leaves behind not only cherished memories,
