Authorities have confiscated nearly $140 million worth of illegal drugs, leading to charges against 21 individuals, including a man from Barrie, in what is considered one of the largest drug seizures ever in Ontario.
This investigation, known as Project Bay, kicked off in Windsor back in January 2025. It evolved into a collaborative effort involving various agencies such as the Ontario Provincial Police, Windsor Police, Canada Border Services Agency, along with police departments from Toronto and Peel, as well as U. S. law enforcement agencies.

According to police reports, the probe revealed a drug trafficking network operating across borders that exploited the commercial trucking industry to transport illegal substances through legitimate channels.
Search warrants were carried out in June and this month across southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area.
Investigators reported seizing 973 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 660 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, 49 kilograms of opium, 230 oxycodone tablets, 17 firearms-including an anti-tank rifle-ammunition, prohibited weapons, over $90,000 in Canadian and U. S. cash, luxury jewelry items, money counters, 43 cell phones and six laptops.
Police confirmed that 19 suspects have been arrested while two others remain at large.
In total, there are 102 charges filed against those involved.
