A man has lost his life following a propane explosion at a cottage within a golf resort situated just south of Peterborough, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Peterborough County OPP reported that they arrived at Bellemere Winds Golf Resort on Villiers Line around 3 p. m. on Wednesday. Local fire and EMS also responded to the scene.
Peterborough fire Chief Chris Snetsinger told that the explosion was “propane in nature.”
A 63-year-old man from Warkworth, Ont., was taken from the scene by ambulance and later airlifted to a hospital in Toronto with life-threatening injuries. OPP confirmed that he passed away early Thursday morning.

No other injuries were reported, according to officials. “The safety and well-being of our guests, owners, team members and contractors remain our highest priority,” said the executive team. “We are cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities as they investigate the incident.” The investigation is still ongoing and is being led by OPP along with several other agencies including the Office of the Fire Marshal, Technical Standards and Safety Authority, Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. & copy 2026 , a division of Corus Entertainment Inc.Source link
