Authorities have shut down both the northbound and southbound lanes of an Ontario highway after a serious multi-vehicle accident occurred north of Brampton.

Just after 4 p. m. on Monday, the OPP reported that several vehicles collided on Highway 10 near Charleston Sideroad in Caledon.

According to police, three vehicles were part of the incident, and a representative from Peel Regional Paramedic Services confirmed that three individuals sustained injuries.

One person was transported to a trauma center while two others were taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to paramedics. Further details about the injured individuals are not available at this time.

The police have blocked off Highway 10 northbound at Charleston Sideroad and southbound at Beech Grove Sideroad as emergency services respond to the scene. Drivers are advised to steer clear of the area and seek alternative routes if possible.
