Local leaders gathered in Petrolia for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the arrival of $42,500 worth of new baseball gear.

The funds were used to add three bleachers and a batting cage at the baseball diamonds located in Greenwood Park.

Town Mayor R. Brad Loosley and local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Bob Bailey attended the event on Saturday.

“I am so pleased to see this project complete with the support of the Province of Ontario. I would like to extend our thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support of Petrolia. This will be a great addition at Morrison Field,” said Loosley.

The funding was awarded in June 2025 through the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), which aims to foster healthy and vibrant communities across Ontario, having invested nearly $107 million throughout the province.
