Officials report they are searching for a dog that attacked multiple individuals, including a child, in southwest Barrie on Monday morning.

Barrie police have described the dog as a “large brown bully-breed dog with a red leash.”

The child suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

UPDATE: The dog is still at large. Last seen in the vicinity of Tiffin and Ferndale Dr. around 12:30pm. Anyone who sees the dog should contact Barrie Police at 705-725-7025. Please do not approach or attempt to contain it. https://t. co/Pzc91BLv5R

Police reported receiving their first call for assistance around 8:45 a. m. regarding the loose dog near Loggers Run and Essa Road. By about 12:30 p. m., the dog was sighted close to Tiffin Street and Ferndale Drive.

Around this same time, police advised residents nearby to stay indoors while they continued their search for the animal.

In an update around 4:30 p. m., authorities stated that the dog is still unaccounted for but has not been spotted since around noon.

The Simcoe County District School Board noted that Ferndale Woods Elementary School is currently under a hold-and-secure order.
