With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of Donald Kevin Forneri on June 3, 2026, at the age of 69.
Born on November 6, 1956, Don was a warm-hearted and joyful person who made a positive impact on everyone he met. Many called him “the Dad of the Neighborhood.” His home was always open, coffee was always brewing, and there was always space for one more at his table. Whether you were family, a friend, a neighbor, or just someone looking for connection, Don welcomed you with kindness and acceptance.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Gayle Forneri; his children Don Jr. Forneri, Cassandra Shedden (Matthew Shedden), Meaghan Forneri, and Laura Forneri; as well as his adored grandchildren Mackenzie, Aria, Emerald (Emmy), Delilah, Eleanore, Matthias, Charlotte, and Alistair. They brought endless joy and pride to his life. He also leaves behind his beloved grandpuppies Maya and Murphy who were always treated like family.
He is survived by his brothers Jimmy Forneri, Bill Forneri, and Brian Forneri; his sisters Karen, Ruth, and Joanne; sister-in-law Cheryl Dunbabin Forneri; along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by his brother Gerald Forneri and sister-in-law Bunny.
Don had a deep passion for music-especially The Beatles and The Steve Miller Band. Music often filled the air during family gatherings and created countless cherished memories. He was also quite the storyteller. His grandchildren will fondly remember tales about aliens and ghosts lurking under porches-stories that left them wide-eyed with laughter while always craving just one more tale. Some of their best moments were spent listening to one of Dad’s stories where reality blended seamlessly with imagination.
Above all else, Don loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, proud father, caring grandfather, loyal brother, and dear friend to many. His kindness and humor left a lasting impression on everyone around him.
While our hearts are heavy from this sudden loss we find solace in the beautiful memories he created during his lifetime.
“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
-The Beatles
Rest peacefully now Don.
You will be greatly missed but forever loved.
Anyone wishing to join us in celebrating Don’s life is invited to gather with family and friends for a Celebration of Life on July 5th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Manion Court Common Room located at 130 West Donald Street.
