York Regional Police are reaching out to the public for help after a suspected arson incident that damaged two vehicles in Markham early Sunday morning.

According to the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau, officers responded to reports of a vehicle fire on Chant Crescent at around 2:10 a. m. on June 21, 2026.

When emergency services arrived, they found one vehicle completely engulfed in flames. A second vehicle parked nearby was also damaged as the fire spread.

Firefighters from Markham Fire and Emergency Services quickly got the fire under control. After investigating, authorities concluded that the fire had been intentionally set and classified it as arson.

Police have acquired surveillance footage from the area showing a suspect dressed entirely in black near Chant Crescent around the time of the fire.

The investigation is still ongoing, and officials are urging anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or has relevant information to come forward.

If you have any information, please contact York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7541 or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
