The robberies happened between March and June near Chinguacousy Road and Queen Street East. In each incident, the suspect reportedly waited inside the ATM vestibules and targeted victims right after they withdrew cash.
Once the victims finished their transactions, it’s alleged that the suspect attacked them and took their money. One of the victims was an elderly person.
Police managed to identify the suspect and set up surveillance, which led them to locate him.
Sureshkumaran Rajaputhiran, a 34-year-old man with no fixed address, was arrested on June 16. He faces three charges of robbery and is currently awaiting a bail hearing.
The Peel Regional Police are urging residents to stay alert at all times, especially when using ATMs or handling cash withdrawals.
