Both lanes have since reopened. A motorcyclist is currently receiving treatment for critical injuries following a collision on Highway 401 in Whitby on Saturday afternoon. According to Ontario Provincial Police, the incident occurred in the eastbound lanes near Brock Street around 2:50 p. m. Highway 401 crash A motorcycle crash briefly closed Highway 401 in Whitby on Saturday, May 16, 2026. ( ) The motorcyclist, a man in his twenties, was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital via air ambulance, as reported by Ornge to CP24. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident. The highway was momentarily shut down in both directions.
