This Friday is shaping up to be a windy and snowy day for much of southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada has put out a yellow advisory for blowing snow in Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, and parts of midwestern Ontario.

The weather agency mentioned that these winds are likely to come with some fresh snowfall.

“A low-pressure system will push into the region on Friday, which will bring snow across the areas with four to eight centimetres possible by Friday evening,” read the advisory. “Strong northwesterly winds will develop behind the low, which will lead to widespread blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility. Visibility may even be near zero for wind-prone and exposed areas.”

Wind gusts in certain regions could hit 80 kilometres per hour.

Temperatures are also expected to fall throughout the day on Friday, as a new wave of arctic air moves into the area. There could be dangerously low wind chills on Friday night and Saturday morning.
