Family Day Hours in Windsor-Essex

Families are gearing up for a winter break this weekend, which means many residents in Windsor-Essex will enjoy a day off on Monday for Family Day.

This holiday is recognized across the province, so all provincial and municipal offices will be closed on Monday.

Canada Post will continue with regular delivery services, although some stores with Canada Post kiosks might have different hours or may be closed.

The same goes for large retail stores and chain restaurants; most will remain open but with adjusted hours. It’s best to call ahead to make sure you don’t waste a trip.

Devonshire Mall in Windsor will be open from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m. on Family Day. Tecumseh Mall in Windsor operates from 11 a. m. to 5 p. m., while the Windsor Crossing outlet mall in La Salle welcomes visitors from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m.

LCBO outlets will be closed on Monday, though some convenience stores that carry LCBO products may still operate.

All Beer Store locations will also be closed.

The four publicly-funded school boards serving Windsor-Essex won’t hold classes on Monday, with students returning on Tuesday.

St. Clair College won’t have any classes either; however, the main campus building, computer lab, and Nexus Arena will welcome visitors from 11 a. m. to 5 p. m.

The University of Windsor’s campus is closed for Family Day, but keep in mind that there are no classes this week due to Reading Week.

The 211 call center operates around the clock. In Windsor, the 311 call center will not be available on Monday. For municipal emergencies like fallen trees or sewer issues, please call (519) 255-6326; self-service options are available at all times.

Garbage and recycling collection will follow its regular schedule throughout the week. Residents can refer to their waste collection calendars for details through the years 2025-26.

The City of Windsor’s public drop-off and hazardous material waste depot won’t be open on Family Day.

This Sunday at WFCU Centre, watch as the Windsor Express takes on the Glass City Wranglers during a special free game at 3 p. m., with free tickets available at the Box Office from 9:30 a. m. until 3 p. m.

The ice rinks at WFCU Centre will operate as usual on Family Day for ice rentals; however, the indoor pool will remain closed.

The Windsor Spitfires face off against the Saginaw Spirit on Monday at 2:05 p. m.

Other rinks, community centers, and arenas won’t open their doors on Family Day.

The natatorium pool and fitness center at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre will welcome guests from 6 a. m. to 7 p. m. on Monday.


Adventure Bay Family Water Park is set to operate from 10 a. m. until 6 p. m., featuring special pricing after 2 p. m.

This coming Monday also sees Central, Riverside, and Budimir branches of the Windsor Public Library open their doors from9:00a. m. –5:00b. m., while other branches remain shut.

The Homelessness and Housing Help (H4) Hub provides support around-the-clock for those facing homelessness.

The Francois Baby House along with Chimczuk Museum won’t be accessible this coming Monday since it’s their typical day off.

In Tecumseh , Tecumseh Arena opens its doors this family holiday , hosting ‘Family In Motion’ activities running between1:00–3:00. Additionally , MPP Andrew Dowie invites everyone over for free skating fun between2:45–4 :00. The arena office , however , remains shuttered.

Tecumseh Transit service won’t run this coming Monday.
