Windsor police have shared the heartbreaking news regarding a missing person’s case.

On Monday, authorities confirmed that human remains discovered in a secluded part of northern Ontario belong to 37-year-old David Pavao.

“We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Pavao’s loved ones during this difficult time,” read a social media post from Windsor police.

Pavao was last spotted on a street in west Windsor during the early morning hours of August 14, 2025. He had gone missing alongside a woman who has since been located. Police believe Pavao was murdered shortly after he disappeared.

A thorough search followed, covering large areas of Windsor-Essex, but it did not uncover any significant evidence.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported in October 2025 the finding of human remains in Black River-Matheson Township, located east of Timmins.

Four men and one woman, whose ages range from 27 to 61, have been arrested in connection with Pavao’s murder. The charges include first-degree murder, accessory after the fact to murder, indignity to a human body, mischief, and failure to comply with a release order.

The charges have not been proven in court.

If you have any information regarding this case, please reach out to the Windsor Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit at (519) 255-6700, extension 4830. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
