Canada-bound site visitors on the Ambassador Bridge was halted for a number of hours Saturday after a tragic incident involving a Canada Border Companies Company officer.
In a put up on X, previously often known as Twitter, Windsor police mentioned officers have been on scene on the Ambassador Bridge for “an ongoing investigation.”
Visitors to Canada was rerouted to the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.

In a joint assertion Saturday night, the Public Service Alliance of Canada and Customs and Immigration Union mentioned a border officer “took their life at work” in Windsor.
“PSAC and the Customs and Immigration Union are aware of the tragic incident that took place,” the assertion learn. “Incidents such as this one bring to light the challenges public safety personnel may be confronted with throughout their career.
“They remind us of the need for a comprehensive mental health support structure and of the importance of taking down barriers to access these services, both in professional and private settings.”
Officers and a forensic investigation car have been stationed across the secondary inspection space, cordoned off with yellow police tape, from round 10:30 a.m. to three p.m.
Shortly after 3 p.m., the Detroit-to-Windsor lanes of the bridge had reopened.
“We are very saddened of the passing today of a CBSA employee working at the Ambassador Bridge,” CBSA spokesperson Karine Martel advised the Ontario Chronicle. “Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with the family, friends, and colleagues of a respected member of the CBSA community who worked in the southern Ontario region.
“Out of respect for loved ones, no further information will be shared.”
