The Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) shared on Wednesday that it’s putting three of its old school buildings on the market.
Windsor Stadium, the old Kingsville District High School, and the former Kingsville Public School are now listed for sale at publicboard. ca, according to a news release from GECDSB.
The announcement mentions that these three properties will be open for viewing at the following times:
Kingsville District High School: Jan. 22 at 10 a. m. Kingsville Public School: Jan. 22 at 2 p. m. Windsor Stadium: Jan. 23 at 10 a. m.
As stated by GECDSB, offers will be accepted until 2 p. m. on Feb. 6., and any questions regarding the properties must be submitted by 5 p. m. on Feb. 4.
Back in May, a representative for Ontario’s minister of education informed that Windsor Stadium was undergoing a process that could lead to its sale. This came after Mayor Drew Dilkens mentioned that this piece of public land was hindering any meaningful restoration of the Jackson Park bandshell.
Ontario is looking into possible alternative uses for the site, which might include housing development, but “it would be premature to speculate on the outcome of the review at this time,” said the education minister’s spokesperson back then.
The GECDSB runs 52 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools across nine regional communities, providing education to around 36,000 students throughout Windsor and Essex County.
