A transport truck travelling with its field raised collided with an indication over Freeway 401 westbound in Whitby Friday morning, police say, inflicting your entire construction to “buckle and collapse” and block visitors for hours.
The preliminary collision occurred close to the Brock Road exit shortly earlier than rush hour.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt mentioned the motive force of the truck — which he described as a “scrap hauler” — continued for about 100 metres up the freeway earlier than stopping. The motive force then dropped the field and exited onto Brock Road, based on Schmidt.
A witness helped police establish the truck and offered an outline of the motive force. In a sequence of movies posted to Twitter, Schmidt mentioned police had been headed to the corporate that apparently owns the truck. He inspired the motive force to contact police and organize to show himself in.
On Friday afternoon, Schmidt confirmed officers had positioned the motive force, a 24-year-old man from Brampton. Police say he has been charged with careless driving, an over-height automobile, and failure to stay on the scene.

Crews spent the morning working to take away the fallen signal construction from the freeway and all lanes have now reopened.
The entire westbound lanes had been initially blocked. Most visitors was diverted off the freeway at Thickson Highway, however some transport vehicles, unable to show round as a result of their dimension, had been trapped on the freeway for hours.
All lanes have since reopened.
