A man was stabbed outside a Whitby movie theatre on Saturday night, prompting police to search for several suspects who ran away right after the attack.

Officers were called in response to reports of an armed individual after the victim was attacked while walking through the plaza of Landmark Cinemas at the Whitby Entertainment Centrum around 10:40 p. m. Saturday.

The victim left the scene before reaching out to the authorities. He was transported to a trauma center in Toronto and is currently in serious but non-life-threatening condition.

If you were in the area between 9:30 p. m. and 11:30 p. m. on January 3 and have any cellphone, dash cam, or surveillance footage, or information regarding this incident, please contact D/Cst. Franzin of the Central West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1805.

You can also send anonymous tips to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www. durhamregionalcrimestoppers. ca, where tipsters may qualify for a cash reward.
