Officers with Durham Regional Police Service have been known as to the realm of Rossland Street East and Fencerow Drive simply earlier than 1 p.m. on Friday.

In line with police, a Dodge Ram pickup went off the roadway and struck a 28-year-old pedestrian who was ready at a bus cease. The car then hit two bell containers earlier than crashing by way of a fence and coming to a cease within the pool.

Police mentioned the pedestrian was transported a trauma centre in Toronto the place he stays in probably life-threatening situation.

“I was in a room in my house on the second story that was facing the backyard and all I heard was what I thought was an explosion. I didn’t know what it was, I thought it could have been a small plane crash,” house owner Karen Fedyk tells CityNews. “I looked out and I saw this half-tonne truck in my pool.”

Police say the driving force, a 65-year-old man from Oshawa, was positioned within the car within the pool and handled for minor accidents on the scene by paramedics.

“I can’t definitively say whether it was travelling too fast or at the posted speed limit. To cause significant damage like that you obviously have to be traveling at a not reasonable speed but these are all things that will be investigated,” Cst. Nicholas Gluckstein tells CityNews.

No charges have been laid at the moment. Police say an investigation is ongoing.
