A person was significantly injured after he was struck by a pickup truck that went off the roadway, crashed by way of a fence and ended up in a yard pool in Whitby, police say.

“I can’t definitively say whether it was travelling too fast or at the posted speed limit. To cause significant damage like that you obviously have to be traveling at a not reasonable speed but these are all things that will be investigated,” Cst. Nicholas Gluckstein tells CityNews.
No charges have been laid at the moment. Police say an investigation is ongoing.
