Police say a pickup truck went off the highway and struck a pedestrian earlier than crashing by way of a fence and ending up in a pool behind a house.

A pedestrian is in hospital with critical accidents after a driver struck them with their pickup truck earlier than careening right into a residential fence and ending up in a yard swimming pool.

Police say it occurred simply earlier than 1 p.m. close to Rossland Highway East and Fencerow Drive in Whitby.

At the moment, the driving force of the car went off the roadway and struck a pedestrian. Video captured by the CP24 chopper confirmed that the driving force of the car then crashed by way of the fences of two houses and ended up in an in-ground swimming pool.

“We’re still trying to ascertain exactly what happened. We’re investigating whether it was a case of a medical incident or if it was something that crossed the road and they left the roadway to avoid that and avoid a collision on the roadway,” Gluckstein informed CP24 on Friday afternoon, including that they imagine there might have been particles or some sort of animal on the roadway.
