Best Diabetes Centre in Whitby, with the goal of greatly improving access to diabetes care throughout Durham Region. As stated by the province, when the project is finished, the centre’s yearly capacity will increase from 2,000 to around 3,800 patients. This initiative is part of a larger plan to enhance Ontario’s health-care system, which includes nearly $60 billion in funding over the next ten years for more than 50 significant hospital projects. Deputy Premier and Health Minister Sylvia Jones mentioned that this investment will make it easier for people to access diabetes education and treatment, helping to lower complications and relieve some of the burden on the health-care system. The improved facility will provide more clinical space, private counseling rooms, and child-friendly areas to better serve patients. The Ministry of Health is currently collaborating with the centre on detailed planning that includes operational and space needs. A timeline for construction will be shared once the project goes out for tender and contracts are awarded. Through “Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care,”the government aims to modernize facilities and enhance access to community-based health services across Ontario.
