During a RIDE stop in Whitby early Wednesday, officers found a loaded handgun next to the driver’s seat, resulting in multiple charges for a novice driver from Clarington.
The Festive RIDE team conducted a traffic check at Dundas Street and Brock Street just after midnight on December 17. They took the 18-year-old driver into custody after noticing signs of alcohol impairment.
A search of the vehicle revealed the loaded gun right beside the driver’s seat.
Armaan Ali Osmani faces three weapons charges, possession of a prohibited device, and two impaired driving offenses. One of those is specific to ‘Novice’ drivers: having a blood alcohol content above zero.
He has been held for a bail hearing.
