A man from Chile has been arrested and police are looking for a second suspect after a burglary at a house in an Ontario town.

The incident took place around 7:30 p. m. on Thursday when homeowners were coming back to their home near Thickson Road and Carnwith Drive East in Whitby, according to Durham Regional Police.

Upon their return, the residents found two masked men at their back door.

Both men ran away before the police got there, but one suspect was found nearby with help from a police helicopter and the K9 unit.

Authorities report that Nelson Perez-Rojas, 24, of Chile, has been taken into custody and charged with several offences including break-and-enter, theft under $5,000 and mischief.

The accused is being held for a bail hearing, according to police.
