Durham police say they’ve charged with a person with aggravated assault after a “very violent” stabbing in Whitby, Ont. left a male critically injured on Thursday.

The stabbing occurred at Motel 6 at 165 Shoppers Rd., in keeping with the Durham Regional Police Service. Police had been known as to the scene at 3:07 p.m.

Paramedics took the sufferer, who was stabbed within the higher physique, to a Toronto trauma centre.

The accused, 27, is in custody.

Responsibility Insp. Sean Sitaram, spokesperson for Durham police, instructed reporters on the scene that the accused fled the motel however was captured by officers a brief distance away.
