A 27-year-old man is facing multiple charges after reportedly barricading himself inside a home in Whitby – a place he was ordered to stay away from – while holding a knife last weekend.

Durham Regional Police said they received an “unwanted person call” at a location near Chestnut St. E. and Perry St. – close to Brock St. N. and Dundas St. E. – around 7:20 p. m. on Sunday.

“Officers arrived on scene where the suspect had armed and barricaded himself with a knife,” police stated in a release on Wednesday.

“The suspect was under conditions to stay away from the residence and the homeowner,” police added, explaining that the man “eventually exited the residence and was arrested.”

Jordan Wheeler, who has no fixed address, is charged with eight counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

“At the time of his arrest, Wheeler was wanted on several other charges related to an earlier incident,” police said.
