Search for 2 women boaters in distress on Ontario river continues

The stormy climate which has hit Waterloo Area has created a problem for police as they seek for two ladies who have been reported to be in misery on the Grand River in Kitchener over the weekend.

A bystander referred to as police on Saturday evening at round 9:30 p.m. to report that two individuals have been in misery on the Grand River close to King Road and River Street, in line with Const. Melissa Quarrie advised reporters on Monday morning.

“The searched for the missing individuals commenced that evening, however, it was unsuccessful,” she mentioned whle noting that police introduced in a drone to assist with their efforts.

“The search was paused during the overnight hours and continued during Sunday and into the morning today. At this time, WRPS is partnering with a number of emergency services in order to facilitate the investigation and the ongoing search, including the OPP dive team.”

Waterloo police Insp. Brenna Bonn wouldn’t say whether or not police had given up hope of discovering the 2 ladies boaters alive.
