There might be some rain in the forecast this weekend, but don’t let that ruin your fun! There’s plenty going on in the area.

Kick things off Friday night at the Gaukel Block in downtown Kitchener for DTK Latin Heat and Outdoor Bar. Enjoy free dance lessons starting at 7 p. m., followed by social dancing until around 11 p. m.

On Sunday at 7 p. m., check out Music at the Square, a performance by the Waterloo Concert Band in Waterloo Public Square. It’s free; just bring a lawn chair or find a bench to sit on and enjoy the show.

This week, preparations have been underway in Kitchener’s Victoria Park for the 5K Foam Fest run. Participants will navigate through water sprays and bubbles, glide down huge inflatable slides, and face off against a total of 25 obstacles along the course.

A midway will be set up all weekend long at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium featuring rides and carnival snacks. If you’re still craving cotton candy this summer, you’ll definitely want to stop by!

The wiener dog races return to Grand River Raceway Friday night with 30 pups competing for fun. Admission is free, and doors open at 5:30 p. m. The event boasts the slogan “there are no losers, just wieners.”

If you’re looking for treasures, head over to the Great Downtown Guelph Garage Sale on Saturday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m., held on Cork and Macdonell streets due to construction.

This Friday evening, catch the Kitchener Panthers playing in Chatham while the Guelph Royals are facing London. Saturday and Sunday feature an exciting Canadian Baseball League all-star game hosted by the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.

Kultrún World Music Festival

Friday 6 p. m. to 11 p. m., Saturday 2 p. m. to 11 p. m., Sunday 2 p. m. to 9:30 p. m.

Waterloo Park

This music festival is free and showcases acts you won’t often get to see! Musicians from Colombia, Ecuador, Haiti, Peru as well as various artists from Canada and beyond will perform.

You can also enjoy family-friendly workshops, a kids area, cultural market vendors, and food trucks.

The Kultrún World Music Festival is back this weekend in Waterloo Park with global sounds galore! Isabel Cisterna, founder and artistic director of Neruda Arts discusses what kind of music attendees can look forward to while highlighting how much larger this festival has become.

Waterloo Rib and Beer Festival

Friday 4 p. m. to 11 p. m., Saturday 12 p. m. to 11 p. m., Sunday 12 p. m. to 7 p. m.

RIM Park

No secrets here; it’s exactly what it sounds like! Enjoy delicious ribs alongside various beer options plus other food delights throughout the festival!

You’ll also find live music all weekend long including Just Jovi paying tribute to Bon Jovi, Street Survivors covering Lynyrd Skynyrd hits and The Tragically Trip which covers The Tragically Hip as expected! Kitchener City Hall Hosts FIFA World Cup Fan Event

Saturday at 3

. continue; This is an official FIFA fan event featuring soccer activities along with skill challenges, live music, food trucks, and screens streaming games. Norway plays against England at 5 followed by Argentina versus Switzerland later that evening at 9. Watch parties are also taking place at the Kitchener Market and Gaslight District located in Cambridge.

Hespeler Reunion

The reunion welcomes current residents , former locals , & anyone wanting good vibes. Celebrate together ! Many events await : midway rides , art displays , pickleball games , markets for vendors/artists , kid-friendly areas , hockey/softball matches , soapbox derbies showing live performances leading up culminating into an exciting drone display on Sunday eve !

Bug Out

Sunday from eight AM until four PM.

Camp Heidelberg of K-W Optimist Club @2001 Kressler Road (Heidelberg). No bugs here – it’s actually one fantastic Volkswagen car show considered among Ontario’s largest showcases! Will there be any Herbie replicas ? Hosted by local Bug Club members exhibiting classic cars alongside vendor booths available ! Cash admission payable directly upon entry ; please note only cash transactions accepted.

United In Voices Festival
Victoria Pavilion located within Kitchener’s scenic park. Organized by Grand River Friendship Society showcasing dialogues led by youth participants engaging audiences creatively through art storytelling sharing live musical performances including Duende Kings concert too! Goal : promote inclusivity giving people opportunities connect share knowledge gaining mutual understanding!!
