Students won’t be going to school in many districts on Monday.
The Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board announced late Sunday night around 9 p. m. that all schools would be closed because of the current weather conditions.
All school bus services have also been cancelled.
French language schools and private institutions were also closed on Monday.
Post-secondary schools, including the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, Conestoga College, and the University of Guelph were also shut down after the heavy snowfall on Sunday.
By Sunday afternoon, parts of Waterloo Region had received between 2-8 cm of snow, with total snowfall measuring around 10-15 cm by Monday morning.
This wasn’t the largest amount of snow in a single day for the area, but it comes as snow clearing crews are struggling to keep pace with this season’s frequent snowfalls.
