It’s been four years since a 37-year-old woman was taken from a home in Wasaga Beach.
WASAGA BEACH – The Ontario Provincial Police have revealed that their ongoing investigation into the abduction of a woman from Wasaga Beach now involves Timmins, the Greater Toronto Area, Quebec, Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates.
Elnaz Hajtamiri was forcibly taken from a residence on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach at 8:30 p. m. on January 12, 2022, exactly four years ago today. Authorities say she was seized by three men impersonating police officers executing a warrant while wearing quasi-tactical outfits.
At the time of her abduction, she was 37 years old and had previously been assaulted by men who attacked her with a frying pan in a Richmond Hill parking garage just weeks before her kidnapping. Since then, no one has seen or heard from her.
Her ex-boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo, is currently on trial for her murder. Several others have also been arrested and charged in connection with both the frying pan assault and her abduction.
“As part of our ongoing investigation, OPP has found potential links to Timmins, the Greater Toronto Area, Québec and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Investigators are asking anyone with information in these areas to reach out to police,” said a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
A joint reward of $100,000 is being offered by the Government of Ontario and York Regional Police for tips that could lead to Elnaz’s location.
“Elnaz’s family and friends have suffered through years filled with missed memories, celebrations and holidays without her presence; we remain dedicated to uncovering the answers they need,” stated Detective Inspector Steven Martell of the OPP’s criminal investigations branch in a news release. “While we can’t discuss specific connections our investigation has to various regions, we believe someone there has information that could help us find her.”
Elnaz is described as approximately 160 cm (5’3″) tall with a slim build and black hair.
