It’s been four years since a 37-year-old woman was taken from a Wasaga Beach home.
WASAGA BEACH – The Ontario Provincial Police have revealed that the investigation into the kidnapping of a woman from Wasaga Beach now extends to Timmins, the Greater Toronto Area, Quebec, Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates.
Elnaz Hajtamiri was forcibly taken from a residence on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach at 8:30 p. m. on January 12, 2022-exactly four years ago today. Authorities state she was kidnapped by three men posing as police officers carrying out a warrant while dressed in quasi-tactical clothing.
At the time of her abduction, she was 37 years old and had previously been assaulted by men who hit her with a frying pan in a parking garage in Richmond Hill just weeks before her disappearance. Since then, there has been no sign of her.
Her ex-boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo, is currently facing trial for her murder, and several others have been arrested and charged for their roles in either the frying pan attack or the kidnapping.
“As part of our ongoing investigation, OPP has found possible connections to Timmins, the Greater Toronto Area, Québec and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Investigators are reaching out to anyone with information from these areas to get in touch with police,” said a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
A combined reward of $100,000 is being offered by both the Government of Ontario and York Regional Police for any information that could help locate Elnaz.
“Elnaz’s family and friends have gone through years without her during important moments like celebrations and holidays. We are dedicated to uncovering answers they deserve,” stated Detective Inspector Steven Martell from OPP’s criminal investigations branch in a news release. “While we can’t disclose specific connections our investigation may have to various locations, we believe someone there holds key information that could assist us and urge them to come forward.”
Elnaz is described as about 160 cm (5’3″) tall with a slim physique and black hair.
