Authorities are looking into a drowning case involving a man in Wasaga Beach, Ont., located around 20 kilometres northwest of Barrie.

Ontario Provincial Police report that emergency services were called to a home on River Road East in Wasaga Beach at about 1:05 p. m. after they received reports of a kayaker who was missing.

According to them, a 24-year-old man from Toronto had been kayaking with two friends when their kayak flipped over.

The Wasaga Beach Fire Department found the man and initiated resuscitation efforts before he was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have withheld the man’s name out of respect for his family.

In an unrelated event, a three-year-old also drowned on Saturday in Long Sault, Ont., which is roughly 100 kilometres southeast of Ottawa.
