Ontario revealed on Friday that it will invest close to $40 million to rejuvenate Wasaga Beach.

Premier Doug Ford mentioned that $25 million will be allocated for the renovation of the Nancy Island Historic Site.

This site includes a historic museum that showcases the battle involving the HMS Nancy, which captured two U. S. schooners before being sunk during the War of 1812.

The province will also dedicate $11 million towards improving roads around the beach to boost tourism and support a planned development of 3,000 homes, along with an additional $2 million aimed at revitalizing downtown Wasaga Beach.

Mr. Ford also stated that part of the beach owned by the province will be handed over to the town, ensuring it always remains accessible to the public.

Tourism Minister Stan Cho announced that a marketing campaign will soon be launched by the province to attract visitors to popular spots throughout Ontario, including Wasaga, home to the world’s longest freshwater beach.
