Doug Ford is urging beach visitors to please refrain from using the sand as a bathroom at a well-known summer spot in Ontario.

During a press conference on Wednesday morning, Ontario’s Premier was asked about ongoing social media claims that people visiting Wasaga Beach are setting up tents, digging holes, and relieving themselves in the sand – a rumor that gained traction from a local Tik Toker last month but has been dismissed as false information by town and provincial representatives.

Last week, Wasaga Beach Mayor Brian Smith mentioned that town officials have not received any complaints regarding this issue and called for help from Queen’s Park to set the record straight.

“If any evidence comes to light, I assure you that we will be quick to act,” Smith previously said in a statement.

Additionally, a spokesperson for Ontario’s Environment, Conservation and Parks Ministry informed that there have been no such reports from either residents or park staff.

On Wednesday, Ford echoed that sentiment.

“We have no proof if it, either,” he said.

“Folks, don’t be pooping on the beach – it’s as simple as that.”
