Authorities report that vehicles were taken in Penetanguishene and Innisfil on Sunday; the stolen vehicle was found after crashing into a nearby house.

A man from Tiny Township is facing multiple charges related to a string of alleged vehicle thefts and crashes, including one incident involving a police cruiser that resulted in an OPP officer being hospitalized.

Shortly after 1:30 p. m. on Sunday, Huronia West OPP stated that the nearby Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment received a call about a Honda CR-V being stolen from Penetanguishene.

At around 2:45 p. m., provincial police claim the same individual took another vehicle, a Ford F-250 pickup truck, from a site in Innisfil.

Not long after that, officers say the suspect drove to Wasaga Beach where they were involved in two hit-and-run accidents.

Huronia West OPP reports that officers found the suspect vehicle on Bells Park Avenue, where it collided with an OPP cruiser and crashed into a nearby residence.

The collision led to one officer being sent to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries before being released later.

Jeffrey Parent, 52, from Tiny Township, has been charged with:

Theft of a motor vehicle (two counts) Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited Failure to comply with a probation order Assaulting a peace officer causing bodily harm Possession of property obtained by crime Flight from a peace officer (two counts) Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm Resisting a peace officer Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired causing bodily harm Refusal to comply with a demand – bodily harm Mischief, destroying or damaging property (two counts) Failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

All allegations have yet to be proven in court.

The accused is currently in custody awaiting his bail hearing today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.

If you have any information regarding this case, please contact Huronia West OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS for anonymity.
