A singular elementary and secondary college will likely be constructed on a shared website within the City of Wasaga Seaside.

An MOU signed with Lakehead programming College and Canadore Faculty will enable programming delivered by means of the City’s twin-pad area and library, and inside shared services on the brand new website. Programming will likely be focused to expert commerce professions in development, childcare, healthcare and hospitality.

“Canadore College is leading the way in training people to fill the shortage of skilled workers in the communities it serves across Ontario and Canada,” mentioned Canadore Faculty President and CEO George Burton. “The trades present stimulating and rewarding careers, they usually pays very effectively.

“College students graduate from our trades applications with the abilities industries require. We’re happy to collaborate with the City of Wasaga Seaside, the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District Faculty Board, and our post-secondary companions, to supply programming that can profit college students pursuing a profession within the trades.“

The Ontario Ministry of Schooling will fund a partnership proposal developed by the city and the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District Faculty Board to construct an modern Okay-12 campus adjoining to the brand new Wasaga Stars Area and Wasaga Seaside Public Library.

wasaga bay school image“This unique project will deliver more than additional elementary school capacity, a childcare centre and a community theatre for Wasaga Beach,” Mayor Brian Smith in a press launch. “It is the first high school in the history of our community, and it is long overdue.”

The undertaking features a new group theatre that college students may have entry to throughout the college day, which will likely be obtainable to the group on evenings and weekends.

“By leveraging $60 million of existing municipal infrastructure in the new twin-pad arena and library, we are able to deliver an expanded range of community uses, save money for tax-payers, and deliver a K-12 school for our community at a more affordable price for the school board,” mentioned CAO Andrew McNeill. “This collaboration demonstrates the power of partnerships and we believe it exemplifies what the province is looking to achieve with community hubs.”

Development is anticipated to be accomplished in 2027.
