Town kicks off “Take Me to The Beach” campaign to encourage car-free travel to Ontario’s favorite beach spot

WASAGA BEACH, ON, June 9, 2026 /CNW/ – Getting to Wasaga Beach is now more convenient. The Town of Wasaga Beach has teamed up with Flix Bus, the fastest-growing intercity bus service in North America, to introduce a new direct bus route from Toronto’s Union Station to Wasaga Beach. Known locally as the Wasaga Beach Line, this new service provides residents and visitors an easy and budget-friendly option for traveling without a car, increasing access to one of Ontario’s most popular summer spots.

This launch represents a big step for the community by offering the most frequent intercity bus service in Wasaga Beach’s history and creating fresh chances for people to visit without needing a vehicle.

The new route is paired with “Take Me to The Beach,” a summer-long marketing effort aimed at promoting Wasaga Beach as an easily reachable destination while encouraging visitors to leave their cars behind.

Both the introduction of this service and the marketing campaign are key moves in the Town’s mission to enhance regional connectivity, support eco-friendly tourism, and make Wasaga Beach accessible year-round.

“Wasaga Beach is one of Ontario’s favorite summer spots, and we’re thrilled to make it easier than ever for everyone,” said Mayor Brian Smith. “Whether you’re planning a day trip, weekend escape, or attending our numerous festivals and events, travelers can now board at Union Station and arrive directly at the world’s longest freshwater beach.”

Kicking off this June, the Take Me to The Beach campaign will include digital ads, social media posts, travel plans, influencer stories, blog content, and features showcasing how visitors can enjoy a car-free beach experience in Wasaga Beach.

“Travelers are increasingly looking for affordable ways to reach hot destinations without dealing with driving hassles or costs-especially during peak summer months,” said Karina Frayter from Flix North America. “As interest in intercity bus travel rises, services like the Wasaga Beach Line make day trips and weekend getaways more available for many people wanting to check out one of Ontario’s top summer locations. We appreciate our partnership with the Town of Wasaga Beach in expanding transport options for both locals and tourists.”

The launch coincides with preparations by Wasaga Beach for what promises to be its biggest summer yet-featuring over 80 live music shows, the new Wasaga Beach Life Festival and Midway event, enhanced waterfront celebrations including Canada Day Symphony Fireworks along with other signature events on this stunning beach.

An official launch event complete with ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating this new service will occur on June 9th with attendance from town officials alongside Flix Bus representatives.

The Wasaga Beach Line is set to run seven days a week. Tickets are available now at flixbus. ca or via the Flix Bus app.
