Huronia West OPP are looking into a drowning that took place Saturday afternoon in Wasaga Beach.

Shortly after 1 p. m. on Saturday, emergency services responded to calls about a missing kayaker from a home on River Road East.

The individual reported missing was a 24-year-old man from Toronto, who had been kayaking with two others when their kayak capsized. He was the only one of the three who did not come back up.

When the Wasaga Beach Fire Department arrived, they found the man and began resuscitation efforts before he was taken to the hospital by paramedics. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead.

The name of the man has not been released to respect his family’s privacy during this ongoing investigation.
