Wasaga Beach – On November 17, the Town of Wasaga Beach will launch community engagement efforts to create a vision for Destination Wasaga, and it’s inviting residents to participate.

The Destination Wasaga Master Plan will be crafted through a process that prioritizes local residents, businesses, and community partners. This initiative builds on the Province of Ontario’s $38-million investment in Destination Wasaga made earlier this year, which supports the revitalization of the beachfront, downtown area, and important heritage sites like Nancy Island.

“We’re thrilled to support the redevelopment of Destination Wasaga into a top-tier destination,” said Premier Doug Ford. “The investments we’re making in partnership with the Town will boost tourism and growth, redeveloping the significant historic site at Nancy Island while ensuring public access to our town’s stunning beachfront-the longest freshwater beach in the world.”

“Our government is proud to back Destination Wasaga and assist the people of Wasaga Beach as they plan for their future,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming. “This community has a rich history along with incredible natural resources that truly make it an Ontario destination. By collaborating closely with residents and local partners, this master plan will help protect Ontario’s natural beauty, ensuring that our beach remains publicly accessible for everyone while helping Wasaga Beach grow into a lively year-round destination showcasing what our province has to offer.”

DESTINATION WASAGA KICKS OFF

To lead this planning effort, the Town has brought on Urban Strategies-a recognized urban design and planning firm based in Ontario with experience in waterfront revitalization projects across Canada. Urban Strategies will collaborate closely with municipal officials, residents, business owners, Indigenous partners, and other stakeholders to develop a vision that reflects Wasaga Beach’s unique character and goals as it aims to become an internationally recognized spot for recreation and nature.
