Sheila Vaughan has retired from Scholastic after 31 years as workplace supervisor, with Catherine Bell, group managing director of Scholastic UK, paying tribute to her “immense contribution”.

Vaughan first joined Scholastic from Andre Deutsch in 1992, starting her profession working for David Fickling in Scholastic’s Camden places of work earlier than guiding the corporate by way of three workplace strikes – to New Oxford Avenue, then on to Euston Home and, in 2022, to One London Bridge. Vaughan will likely be succeeded by new workplace and administration help, Jasmine Adekunle.

The writer says Vaughan “took satisfaction in welcoming each arrival and managed the smooth-running of workplace life.

The Scholastic London workplace gathered to have fun Vaughan in March. A leaving e-book, which noticed an “unprecedented response”, was offered to Vaughan, with “good needs pouring in” from authors, illustrators, brokers, companions, former and present colleagues. Illustrator Axel Scheffler gave her a “particular illustration” of Stick Man.

Vaughan mentioned: “It appears solely moments since I first walked by way of the doorways of Scholastic. Over thirty years, I’ve labored with so many unbelievable folks previous and current – authors, illustrators, colleagues and particularly Catherine Bell, an exquisite chief in publishing and somebody I’ll always remember. I’m very touched by all of the messages in my leaving e-book – and was amazed when Axel Scheffler and Liz Pichon kindly gave me personalised footage. I’ll treasure these and all of the pleased reminiscences of Scholastic.”
