The Ontario Provincial Police report that a driver from Brampton is being charged after a dump truck with its box raised hit an overpass on Highway 400.

According to police, the incident took place Friday around 2:30 a. m. in the southbound collector lanes near Langstaff Road in Vaughan.

As of 8:30 a. m., those lanes are still closed while police wait for a bridge inspector to assess the overpass’s structural integrity. They mentioned that the closure could take some time if repairs are necessary.

Photos from the site show the dump truck’s bin lodged under the overpass, leaving dark scratches and dent marks on the bridge structure.

Authorities noted that the dump truck’s bin was elevated when it collided with the overpass. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

A 32-year-old driver from Brampton has been charged with careless driving and operating an “overheight vehicle.”
