A person and a girl have died after a hearth broke out at a house in Thornhill on Saturday night.
Vaughan Deputy Hearth Chief Mike Doyle stated hearth crews obtained report of a home hearth on Conley Road close to Steeles Avenue West and Dufferin Road shortly after 7:40 p.m.
When crews arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the house, he stated.
Crews situated two occupants — a person and a girl of their 40s — in a basement residence. Life-saving assist was carried out on them however they have been pronounced lifeless on the scene.
Two different occupants who have been on the higher flooring of the house have been capable of self-evacuate with no accidents, Doyle stated.
Vaughan Hearth Chief Andrew Zvanitajs stated the opposite occupants have been capable of escape due to a working smoke alarm on the primary flooring.
