York Regional Police is asking for help from the public in finding suspects linked to an alleged arson that occurred at a business in Vaughan, Ont., on Tuesday.

Security footage from the area, obtained and shared by police, shows two suspects breaking into the business. They seem to pour something on the building, set it ablaze, and then run away on foot.

No one was inside the building during the fire, and there were no reported injuries, Const. James Dickson told CBC Toronto on Wednesday.

Dickson mentioned that although the video quality isn’t great and makes identification tricky, investigators think there were two males involved but believe there might be more individuals.

“Oftentimes, when we see two people committing offences, usually someone else [is] in a getaway car. So we are alive to the fact that there might be more suspects,” he said.

Dickson indicated that while this incident seems targeted, there’s no evidence suggesting it was motivated by hate.

“There’s no indication at this time to believe that that’s the case,” he said.

Dickson added there’s currently no threat to public safety.

At present, damages are estimated at over half-a-million dollars.

York Regional Police encourages anyone with information or video footage to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
