A recent international mission investigating events in Iran has focused on two airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of at least 178 civilians, including women and children.
At the beginning of the US-Israeli offensive against Iran in February, a US bomb struck the Shajareh Tayyebeh school located in Minab, as reported by NBC News.
The full details of this incident are still unclear. Iranian state media have claimed that 168 individuals lost their lives in this attack, with many being children.
“Following the United States and Israeli attacks on February 28, the mission found reasonable grounds to believe the United States committed the war crime of launching indiscriminate attacks resulting in the loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects,” stated the fact-finding team.
The Trump administration has not yet acknowledged responsibility or released results from a Pentagon investigation regarding the school bombing.
The UN-supported group referred to allegations of war crimes concerning two strikes – one involving Tomahawk missiles targeting a “clearly identifiable” school and another airstrike that used precision strike missiles dispersing tungsten pellets over a “clearly identifiable sports complex and residential area” in Lamerd, which also occurred on February 28.
The UN-supported team reported that 22 civilian men and women were killed. However, US Central Command has denied any responsibility for the strike on Lamerd.
