In a lengthy two-and-a-half-hour episode released on Friday – which included a 25-minute monologue before the interview started – conservative commentator Tucker Carlson took aim at US Ambassador Mike Huckabee, accusing him of placing Israel’s interests above those of the United States. He raised issues surrounding civilian casualties in Gaza, the case of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, fugitive sex offenders, and the drive toward war with Iran.
At one moment, Huckabee countered this claim by pointing to his American flag pin: “What flag am I wearing here?”
“Well, that’s, of course, my flag as well,” Carlson responded. Yet he continued to press on.
The discussion took place inside Ben-Gurion Airport’s diplomatic terminal on February 18, following a public exchange between the two former Fox News hosts reported earlier by The Jerusalem Post. Carlson did not venture beyond the airport complex during his visit.
Huckabee defended his actions and pushed back against several of Carlson’s statements while presenting what he termed a faith-based argument for maintaining strong US-Israel ties. However, not all assertions made during their talk held up under scrutiny.

Former Fox News anchor Melissa Francis stated that she had helped arrange this meeting and mentioned that Carlson attempted to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu through intermediaries but was turned down.
According to Carlson’s account, author and political theorist Yoram Hazony told him it “would not be in his political interest to meet with you.” Francis added that Netanyahu “was not interested.”

Carlson’s monologue leading up to the interview
Before their conversation began, Carlson delivered a 25-minute monologue where he outlined his criticisms against Israel, its embassy operations, and Huckabee himself. After critics pointed out that he arrived by private jet, he addressed it directly in his monologue by saying he chartered the plane “which I never do because I’m cheap.” Carlson filmed promotional footage for an upcoming interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin from the rooftop of Moscow’s Ritz-Carlton hotel. He owns three properties in total; two are waterfront homes on Gasparilla Island purchased together for $8.4 million. His stepmother is an heiress from the Swanson frozen-food family.
