For many Democrats, dropping to Donald J. Trump was a devastating intestine punch that despatched them hurtling into the political abyss.

However to listen to some get together leaders and their allies speak, Democrats had loads of November victories to be pleased with.

Jaime Harrison, the chairman of the Democratic Nationwide Committee, wrote a 2,600-word memo to get together members final week that pointed to down-ballot triumphs and declared, “Democrats beat back global headwinds that could’ve turned this squeaker into a landslide.”

Consultant Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the Home Democratic chief, wrote in a press release lately that his caucus had “defied political gravity,” a reference to the newly launched “Wicked” film that was quickly echoed by Senator Amy Klobuchar, the Minnesota Democrat.

And additional down the poll, the Democratic Legislative Marketing campaign Committee wrote in its year-end report that the get together’s successes in statehouse races represented “one of the most shocking election results in modern history” — regardless that Democrats misplaced majorities in chambers in Michigan and Minnesota.

These sunny-side-up views of the election function one thing of an antidote to the notion that Democrats, humbled by their 2024 errors, are about to start rebuilding their get together from the bottom up.
